When I started recording songs in high school, I wanted to make music that sounded like Everything They Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, by the Arctic Monkeys. Nothing I did sounded anything like that but it was fun. A little while later I became pretty active in the Lisa: The Painful community and was making songs for a few fan games that never saw the light of day. When I dropped out of college I started to take the music thing more seriously, and I started putting projects together. Around the same time I was in a band with my friend called Phoebe and the Nurses. (we were the nurses (we didn't actually have a Phoebe)

When I think of bands that have influenced my sound, I certainly think of contemporary post punk groups like Molchat Doma and Shinjuku Mad, but also indie classics - Pixies and The Cure - and power metal bands like Symphony X and Dream Theater, which is where the drama comes from. More recently it's been bands like Bar Italia and julie. But far and above all the others, the artist that has inspired my music the most is Emily Haines and Metric, which has been my favorite band since I discovered them when I was 15. I have always heard my own tiredness and melancholy in Emily’s voice, and Metric’s sound - so clean and clear yet so effortlessly natural, is a standard I aspire to.

Right now, I work as an air conditioning guy and do the songs when I have free time. Most of it gets scrapped. I love music. I always will, even if I lose my hearing and my capacity for conscious thought. Maybe someday I’ll make something really good. Thanks for tuning in.
